Caliscool does not collect any data about you or how you use the app. There is no analytics of any kind. The only thing recorded is your in-app purchase, under a random ID that isn't linked to you, so the app knows you've unlocked Premium.
Overview
Caliscool is a calisthenics training app designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe you should be able to use our app without any concerns about your personal information.
Data We Don't Collect
To be completely clear, Caliscool does not collect:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number) — unless you choose to write to us yourself, see Contacting Support
- Location data
- Photos or video from your camera — see Camera and the Squat Counter
- Health data (Caliscool does not read from or write to Apple Health)
- Device identifiers for advertising
- Any data that could identify you personally
Camera and the Squat Counter
The squat counter uses the front camera to count your reps. Caliscool only turns the camera on while the counter is open, and only after you allow camera access when iOS asks.
- Each frame is analysed on your device by Apple's Vision framework, which finds the position of your joints (hips, knees, ankles and so on). The frame is discarded as soon as that is done.
- No photos or video are recorded, saved or uploaded. Nothing from the camera leaves your device.
- The only thing kept is the number of reps you choose to log, stored like any other set you log by hand.
- You can turn camera access off at any time in the iOS Settings app, under Caliscool.
No Analytics
Caliscool does not send usage statistics anywhere: no screens, exercises or workouts are reported to us or to anyone else. Earlier versions of the app sent anonymous, aggregated usage signals to TelemetryDeck; that has been removed completely, along with the device identifier it used.
iCloud Sync
Your bookmarks and workout-planner progress can sync between your devices using Apple's iCloud, tied to your own Apple ID. This data is stored in your private iCloud storage — we do not operate any servers and have no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
No Account Required
Caliscool does not require you to create an account or sign in. All content is available immediately after download, and your exercise progress stays on your device and in your private iCloud.
In-App Purchases
When you make a purchase in Caliscool, the payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, store, or have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or any personal details from this transaction.
To check whether you have Premium, the app uses RevenueCat, a service that manages in-app purchases. When the app checks your purchase, or when you buy or restore Premium, it sends RevenueCat:
- A random ID created by the app on your device. It isn't your name, email, Apple ID or advertising identifier, and we have no way to connect it to you.
- The purchase details the App Store provides: which product was bought, when, the price and currency, and the country of your App Store account.
- Basic technical details needed to answer the request, such as the app version, the iOS version and the device's language.
This is used only to confirm the purchase and unlock Premium, and to show us totals such as how many people bought Premium. It is not used for advertising or to track you across other apps or websites. If you bought Premium before the app used RevenueCat, the app passes that existing purchase to RevenueCat once, so it stays unlocked.
RevenueCat's handling of this data is described in RevenueCat's privacy policy. Apple's handling of your purchase data is governed by their own privacy policy, which you can review at apple.com/legal/privacy.
Offline Functionality
All exercise content is stored locally on your device. Caliscool works fully offline and does not require an internet connection to function. When you are online, the only data transmitted is your own iCloud sync and the purchase check with RevenueCat, both described above. If you are offline, the app remembers that you have Premium.
Third-Party Services
The only third-party service in Caliscool is RevenueCat, used for in-app purchases as described above. There is no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind. Payments and iCloud sync are handled by Apple.
Children's Privacy
Caliscool does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is safe for users of all ages.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change our privacy practices, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date above. However, given our commitment to not collecting data, we do not anticipate any significant changes.
Contacting Support
The app's settings menu has a Contact Support option. It opens your own mail app with a message addressed to us, prefilled with the app version, your iOS version, your device model and the app's language — nothing is sent until you press send, and you can edit or delete any of it first.
If you do write to us, we receive your email address along with whatever you include. We use it only to answer you, and we don't share it with anyone.
